30 day free autopilot trial - 10 day free autopilot trial - must not be selling very well

The car caught fire and exploded in an underground parking lot in Shanghai, China.

👍

Thanks for a good, unbiased, factual review! Autopilot and Navigate on Autopilot are incredibly helpful for both long trips and bumper to bumper traffic. Try it for a few days.

If only Tesla would reduce its prices by about 50%.

It's all about battery costs, which continue to fall. Within 10 years it will cost less to build (and buy) an EV than a fossil car.

Autopilot systems are absolute game-changer. Can't wait for these to be available on a wide variety of automobiles.

Several car models in addition to Tesla already have lane keeping and radar cruise control now. However Tesla's neural network based Autopilot performs best, and the user interface is excellent. Telsa's over the air updates are also a major advantage since the cars improve relatively very often.

So, uh, the Mad Max reference: it wasn't about stealing water. It was about stealing fuel. Also, let that sink in a bit.

The best vehicle by far

I have a question:

I have a MX 60D built November of 2016. I got the enhanced autopilot feature. Can my car do that?

Yes. Find it under the "Autopilot" tab of your controls menu. If you don't yet have a button that says "navigate on Autopilot," you must keep the car connected to wifi for the update to come through.

At 04:08 that would be Jupiter or Zeus releasing the full torrential rains. I see no ocean in Nevada and Poseidon or Neptune would handle those duties in the Atlantic or Pacific.

The larger storms, longer droughts, colder winters and hotter summers are mostly driven by ocean warming, which in turn is driven by fossil fuel CO2 we're adding to the air. The CO2 is also acidifying the oceans to the point where animals can't form shells. Shellfish farmers are already seeing this. Climate change is real.

Yes, the ocean is not very near Las Vegas, but it does affect its weather. Same for Chicago, Siberia, Central Africa, etc.

Deciding which lane is faster? Just take the left one. Oh wait, it's the US ^^

Autopilot is just a little bit better than cruise control. And this complicates things since it blurs the line on who is in charge.
You still need to pay full attention, you still have to be ready to take over when the software makes mistakes. Btw. The software makes mistakes all the time. It is like poor driver.

With help from the software, poor driver just getting poorer by the mile

Please, PLEASE dress like it's 2019 and not 1985 - WTF is that AWFUL tie/jacket combo? Surely you know someone who can dress you properly.

What can possible be wrong about this man's clothes?
Anyway, most us view this video for his expertise of Tesla Autopilots.

TESTICLE MOTORS

I want a tesla model 3 😭

+Mark Plott There is other problem.. Tesla insurance cost ~2500 euro per year. because closest tesla service center is ~800 km away. So its more expensive than usual ICE car with all gas and insurance cost etc. even with all free charging that is all around.

+Margiris Šopaga - you can IMPORT a Tesla to most any Country , except IRAN or North Korea.

i want model 3 too, but Tesla is not available where i live :/

I want a TESLA P-200-Q , with one motor per Wheel.

This expensive feature will go nicely with the new price hikes the Model S and X just got because Tesla got rid of the cheaper base battery. Pretty soon, only the Poors will be driving Model 3s.

+A Dad Supreme I know was just playing up to the Tesla nuts

+Steve If you were planning on the base model as the only way to afford one, then it's a price hike.

Not a price hike, just no longer can get the more affordable 75kwh model.

... or Hands-Off ;-)

NOA is brilliant. We used it as much as we could on a 1,200 mile road trip, and use it every day in a 35 mile mostly highway (each way) commute through not so fun Denver traffic. Brilliant!

Can't wait to get a Tesla!! 😫

Badass car, I bought one 😂

Really great video without a lot of the misleading stuff typically in these kinds of things. Great job!

0 complaints or ever observations about range anxiety. Attitudes change so quickly.

Robert Weekley 4 hours is nothing. You need to check your prostate because if you can't do a >4 hour stretch, your urologist needs to know. That's only 280 miles unfettered at 70 MPH.

Speaking of range anxiety. -21 here today. KWh per mile with heat >650/mile. Range with seat and cabin heat reduced by 50% .

+Newzchspy - If I drive over 4 Hours at a stretch, it is taking away the fun of the drive! Plus, if Daily Distance is your "Thing", and that's why you love an ICE Vehicle, I suggest you Learn to Fly, and buy a Good Plane for personal Use! At 120 to 250 Mph, there are lots of choices! Even at 160 Mph, by Plane, Florida to Ontario, is a same day flight!

The batteries have greater capacity now than they had in the past; there are also more Tesla Superchargers about.

+Newzchspy So when buying a car you are looking for something that may burst your bladder? The new Roadster will have a longer range capable of stretching your bladder, maybe Elon will call it BDSM mode?

Andrei Stroescu he didn't tell us how many times he had to stop. At 75 MPH and AC on , that would be about every three hours at a minimum. Most hybrid ICE cars will do >600 miles or burst your bladder before the tank runs dry. A Cruze diesel 1.6 auto can do 800 in per tank.

love the futuristic tech in Tesla

Tesla is actually one decade ahead of other cars in almost all respects.

The different modes - mild, average, mad max, etc. Are not changing how the car switches lanes. It changes how often the car suggests to switch lanes based on the speed difference in the lanes.

Engadget is way better than a pile of Liberal crap that's Gizmodo. Actually tech stuff instead of crying about the president

Wasn't Trump uncle John Trump that confiscated all of Nikola Tesla paperwork when he died.

13 HOURS!! I have made this exact drive several times in just under 9 HOURS! So I will just stick to my regular car and when I arrive in Las Vegas 4 hours before you so exhausted I will just take a nice 4hour nap. Wake me up when you arrive. We can hit the strip.

+Chris Teasdale Wow. You must have one of those rare vehicles that gets better fuel economy than the EPA estimate --and at 80 mph! Maybe Honda will buy back that Insight so they can figure out how you managed that.👌

+Chris Teasdale What happens when the temperature drops? Up to a 40% drop in range that's what happens I guess not really a problem in the hot locations but EVs including Tesla's suffer bad range loss in cold winters at freezing or below.

So yeah I agree a plug-in hybrid has the best of both worlds, not affected as badly by temperature hills and mountains.

Probably electric only for most people in city use. And hybrid for long highway driving as well as you can stop and rest where you choose, not where there has to be a EV charger.

We've made this drive several times (starting from Seattle no less) in a classic Model S. Some prefer driving 9hrs w/ no stops. Others prefer breaks every 2-3 hrs for driver swap, food and restrooms. The equation is different travelling solo vs. with family and kids.

Did you know that one of the superchargers between SF and LV is at Harris Ranch? Rather than spending $37 on gasoline, you can spend it on a nice steak instead.

All I'm saying is that there are multiple modes. Roadtripping in a Tesla is just a different experience.

Amm ol just so I understand the point, are you saying if you ignore a maybe some what overly conservative trip planned by the Tesla GPS you can drive through a charge or two and the route is optimized to keep you above 30%? I never road tripped in mine so I never noticed this.

I went to Tesla's website for reliable information. Is it not safe to assume the car maker's own website would provide accurate information? So using your logic, I am sure Honda wouldn't recommend I travel from San Francisco to Las Vegas at my car's max speed of 110mph because it would reduce the life of the car's engine/drivetrain. But then I could make the trip in what 5hrs. So like I have said repeatedly in many use cases a battery EV is great and very efficient but in other use cases gasoline powered cars are just better. I am convinced that no matter what I say you are going to micro analyze and manipulate the numbers to your point of view. So you keep working your calculator over there and let me know when you figure out a way to beat me on either of the road trips I proposed?

Not sure why people who can afford to buy a Tesla opt for the typical cost equivalent ICE vehicle. I understand if cost is an issue or one lives out in the total boondocks but for the rest of us why not? ICE's are just so primitive and backward at this point why not go for the future?

+Newzchspy yes I've driven 3 different model 3s, a p100d and a model x for several days. They're awesome cars, but they're not always the best choice for everyone at their price points. There are cars that do many, many things better for the same money. Tesla will not win many people over from ice luxury cars just because it's an acceleration one trick pony. They handle well sure, but other sport sedans that cost far less offer more in every other category

Brenton Hood have you even driven one or spent any time in the drivers seat? It's one fantastic driving car.

Range anxiety, build quality, interior that's 10 years behind for a "luxury" sedan, no cooled seats, waiting forever for repairs/parts/bodywork, terrible value for $ spent etc.

James B a 40k German car has way less drive ability and technology too. You'd need to spend >$100 k in a German car ( M5) to get what the Model 3 or S gives right now.

range and that Tesla are priced like luxury vehicles but aren't that luxurious

I need to say that the naming "autopilot" is pretty questionable of Tesla, because it suggests that the car can do the hole driving thing for you, without having any problems. But where we are at the moment is not even near to that.

+Charlie K - And, unless our New Ontario Premier, Doug Ford, killed that too, we should be Ready, in Ontario, as the previous Gov't had a Goal, and instituted an Allowance for Testing of Autonomous Vehicles, and leading that forward, in Ontario! First Model Y Deliveries, should be interesting, with that capability!

I viewed at the the end of a video this morning that Tesla will introduce fully auto drive software for its last model cars before the end of 2019.

$200 Million Airliners, wth Multi Million $ Autopilot, Flight Director, TCAS, GPS with WAAS, GPWS, And Other things - like Altitude Pre-Select, and STILL they can not actively avoid another Aircraft, Mountains, or Oceans; without Human Intervention!

The Government is to blame for that. They are regulating how much Autopilot is being used to a point. Meanwhile Tesla is doing a great job at pushing at updates to continue to improve the vehicles autopilot features. All the newer Tesla's have full self driving. It's up to the buyer to opt to buy that feature and also the government to allow to be used per state.

+Yasin Aslan And? Doesn't change the fact that a human is ultimately responsible.

Aish, come on guys. The speed based lane change modes don’t affect how aggressively the car changes lanes. It just sets the limit for how slow the car in front of you needs to be going for your car to recommend a lane change into a faster lane.

Newzchspy I’m very much aware that it’s just a rumor. We’re also very aware that cold weather reduces range. There are ways to reduce the effect though.

Julia Crawford that’s rumor. You know how far behind they are? The X was almost 2 years delayed, so don’t hold your breath for early this year. I’m betting way later in 2019. Oh, wait till you see what 0 degree weather does to the range and batteries. You’re looking at 6-800 kWH/mile with seat and cabin heat on. That 310 range is more like 150 in this weather. Ask me how I know? :)

Newzchspy The rumor is that 3.0 will start rolling out within the first two quarters of this year, so when we order our model 3 (after fall), we will likely be able to get it.

Julia Crawford probably a good idea to wait. Early adopters never benefit from anything. We don't know when ap3.0 is coming though for the Model 3. It's coming, no one has stated when.

Robert Weekley We’ve had our van for more than a year already. There’s no getting out of the lease until the time limit is up. It was an emergency situation that occurred when our previous van was wrecked. Tesla actually called us to ask about our reservation and they were made aware of the situation. The lady who called gave us her contact info for if/when we decide to go to Chicago to test drive a model 3. Chicago is the closest location from us that has a model 3 available to test drive. Seeing as Star Wars celebration is happening in Chicago this year, we are thinking of going down there and killing two birds with one stone XD.

Even more interesting, when Model Y reaches a Million USA Deliveries! (Would they 'Roll Him Out' on National TV, Still, to add some "Trash Talk" against Tesla, then, too? Maybe ol' Bob should stop Fighting, and buy a Tesla!

Cool concept but I still have worries for cyber security and then health insurance prices and crap. I don’t want to get into it but I don’t really like the idea of self driving cars. As cool as they are and can be, the fear of what they could become overcomes me 😂

No one has self driving cars. All cars with external network connections (GM, Ford, etc.) can possibly be cracked, but the security on them is extremely strong including hardware encryption.

Alimur - you are 100x more likely to DIE from Injuries in a ICE car , compared to the SAFETY that model 3 and other Tesla's have. Its BEST to Describe a TESLA as a TANK with Electric Drivetrain. According to Monroe Assoc.
you can BUY their Model 3 Report for $70, MBZ and BMZ have.

+Loui Coleman I have one, and I think it is indeed safer, but every-time I hear this statistic, I remember that I usually activate AutoPilot in safer situations, like divided highways. And not in unsafe situations like intersections or entering a road from a parking lot (since it wont even help out in that case) (Once it starts making turns and handles intersections this statistic will be interesting to follow tho)
